Clinical Expertise

I bring extensive clinical experience in working with adults who are navigating complex patterns of coping, especially when stress, alcohol, or other behaviors have started to feel necessary rather than optional.

I’ve worked with adults navigating substance use, anxiety, and identity shifts across many seasons of life. Many of the people I work with are capable, thoughtful, and outwardly functioning - but have realized that handling things quietly on their own, or relying on insight alone, isn’t creating the change they want anymore.

My training and work include:

  • I help people understand the function of their coping behaviors - not just the behavior itself. This means we explore what your habits are doing for you, what they’re protecting you from, and how to build alternatives that actually work.

  • Many of the people I work with are not in crisis, but they sense things aren’t sustainable. Early intervention work focuses on strengthening self-regulation, emotional awareness, and decision-making - long before patterns become entrenched or problematic in obvious ways.

  • My work with substance-related coping is grounded in evidence-based relapse-prevention frameworks, neuroscience-informed interventions, and compassionate exploration of the lived experience of use - without judgment or one-size-fits-all models.

  • High-functioning adults often experience a painful tension between how they perform externally and how they feel internally. Together we address the emotional and identity components of change - rebuilding self-trust while reducing shame and self-criticism.

  • I draw from practical, evidence-based modalities - including cognitive-behavioral strategies, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness-informed approaches, and motivational work - tailored to your pace, priorities, and goals.

  • I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and Licensed Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor – Supervisor (LAADC-S), trained in cross-state telehealth practice. My clinical experience spans years of individual work, cross-disciplinary consultation, and specialized training in relapse prevention, trauma-responsive care, and mindful coping strategies.
